Luc Portelance Death – Luc Portelance has passed away suddenly after his long battle with cancer. He was pronounced dead on Wednesday, the 19th of April 2023. He died in Ottawa surrounded by his family who will forever miss him. His fortitude and bravery were crucial in overcoming this obstacle, acting as an example to everyone around him. He passed away at the age of 63 leaving many devastated learning of his tragic death.
Who was Luc Portelance?
Luc was a loving husband, a father, a sibling, and a friend. His wife of 40 years and best friend, Nancy, whom he met in Montréal, was the love of his life. Together, they created a lovely life filled with love and treasured memories. He loved his Luc his two children, Eric (Kat) and Jessica (Matthew), who le left behind with their mother. He was a born leader and mentor who was always prepared to help others around him.
He never shied away from a robust discussion and enjoyed a good argument. Luc loved the outdoors and could frequently be spotted honing his short game at the Le Maître golf course in Mont-Tremblant. He adored learning about history, going on adventures, and, in his latter years, learning how to play the guitar. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and had the privilege of meeting him.
Luc departed as the President of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in 2015 after a remarkable 36-year career with the Canadian government. In Shediac, New Brunswick, he started his career with the RCMP. In 1984, he transferred to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), where he held numerous important leadership posts until departing as the Deputy Director of Operations.
Funeral Services
In Luc’s remembrance, a private visitation will be conducted. The Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s stem cell research program, Myeloma Canada, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, or the donation of blood are all welcome alternatives to flowers that the family would appreciate. He will be greatly missed for the lived he touched during the course of his life.
