He passed away from his injuries. No further details were immediately released.
Who was Cole Pensick?
Cole Pensick was an important part of the Husker offensive line in 2013. That line has helped Nebraska become one of the best running teams in the Big Ten this fall. During his time at NU, the 6-2, 275-pound Pensick showed a lot of flexibility by being able to play both center and guard. This came in handy late in 2013 when injuries ravaged the line.
Pensick played in all 13 games and started 12 of them. He played center in 11 games and guard in the other. Pensick also got hurt. He sprained his knee against Michigan State, which slowed him down in the last two games of the season. The coaches in the Big Ten chose Pensick for the second team of All-Big Ten because of how well he played as a senior.
Pensick, who was born and raised in Lincoln, was one of 19 Husker seniors who will play in the Gator Bowl as graduates. Pensick got his bachelor’s degree in December 2012 and took two months of graduate classes while he was still playing. In 2013, he was one of 30 Huskers who were named Academic All-Big Ten.
Cole was born on October 10, 1990, to Dan and Bev Pensick. Pensick got his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Nebraska in December 2012. In the fall and spring of 2012–13, he was on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. He was also on the Fall Academic Honor Roll for the Big 12 in 2009. He has done things to reach out to schools and hospitals.
