Andrew Laing Death – Former Rejects drummer, Andrew Laing has sadly passed away. He was pronounced dead on Monday, the 3rd if April 2023. He died leaving his family and loved ones who will forever miss him devastated and grieving. He will be greatly missed. Cockney Rejects announced his death in a recent social media publication:
“Sad news reaches us this morning with the news that former Rejects drummer Andrew ‘Lainey’ Laing passed away yesterday. Lainey was an integral part of the band from 1999-2016. Our condolences to his wife, children and extended family. RIP mate.”
Who was Andrew Laing?
Andrew Laing was a former drummer of popular rock band, Cockney Rejects. Lainey was a integral part of the Cockney Rejects from 1999-2016. He was a legendary punk drummer, one of Sunderland’s finest. Andrew lived in the city of Sunderland until the time of his death. He was excited about music and being a part of the Cockney Rejects.

Shocked & saddened to learn of the passing of Andrew ‘Lainey’ Laing. We became friends not long after my parents moved to Red House in 1976 when I was 9 years old and just over a decade later we were sharing the most amazing musical adventures – releasing records, recording John Peel sessions & playing gigs at home and abroad, experiences that had previously seemed inconceivable to a bunch of punk rockers from a ten-bob town in the North East of England. Lainey carried on with those adventures for many years after but I’m honoured to have shared those early ones with him. Condolences and love to his family and friends.
