Zama Gumede Death – Zama Gumede, mother of famous South African Musician Mandela Maphumulo popularly known as Mampintsha has passed away. She died on Sunday 15th January 2023 at the age of 66 after a month her son’s death. She was pronounced dead at Wentworth hospital. She was announced dead by her daughter on social media. The actual cause of her death has not been revealed by the family at the time this report was made. Her son Mandela Maphumulo who was popularly known as Mampintsha also passed away on December 24th 2022 at the age of 40.
Who was Mampintsha?
Originally from Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Mandla Maphumulo was better known as the stage name Mampintsha. He launched his music career from this metropolis. The kwaito group Big Nuz, which formed in 2002 and quickly rose to prominence in South Africa thanks to a string of hit singles and the album “For the Fans,” featured him early in his career. In this role, he rapidly gained notoriety. Members of the crew include Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, Mzi “Danger” Tshomela, and the late Sbusiso “R Mashesha” Khoma.
Mampintsha went on to have a successful solo career after the band broke up. There have been whispers about a reunion of the band. In July 2021, Maphumulo, also known as Shimora by his fans, welcomed a son with wife and fellow gqom musician Bongekile Simelane, also known as Babes Wodumo.

Mampintsh has built quite a fan base, both as a member of the Durban kwaito band Big Nuz and as a solo artist, thanks to the fire and passion with which he approaches his music. He spent his early career as a performer doing kwaito.
Mampintsh was nominated for numerous awards this year. She might win Record of the Year at the South African Music Award (SAMA) and Song of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Award. These two nominations are for awards in their own fields. As a member of Big Nuz, he took home the SAMA for best album in 2015 (“For the Fans”), which the group ultimately went on to sell platinum for. One of the group’s songs, “Umlilo,” was named Song of the Year.
