FORT WORTH, Texas~ According to the Fort Worth Police Department, multiple adolescents are suspected in recent fatal shootings around North Texas. The most recent incident occurred on Memorial Day on the southwest edge of Fort Worth. Several residents of the apartment complex saw a teenage guy being murdered. Da’Shawn Winfield, 14, was shot and killed on May 21, and another juvenile was injured, according to authorities.
Darryl Washington, a prominent member of the Fort Worth community, has spoken out on the need for intervention. He expressed his deep sadness about the involvement of yet another young person in a fatal shooting in Fort Worth. He expressed his desire to provide solace to the teens’ loved ones. On the evening of Memorial Day, Fort Worth Police responded to a gunshot at The Arwen Apartments, located off Sycamore School Road. A young teen guy was found shot to death by police outside.
Apartment residents reported hearing gunfire to police. When they went outside, they claimed to have seen the body lying there. According to WFAA, police in Fort Worth are treating the incident as a “criminal offense.” The department has not revealed the identity of the victim or any suspects as of Tuesday. At the scene, relatives told WFAA that the deceased was 15 years old. Both teens were located by police in the apartment building’s breezeway during the May 21 incident. Authorities are looking for whoever used online car-buying solicitations to trick a family into coming to their house, where they were shot at and injured a 14-year-old boy. The boy’s relatives drove to a secure area, where they made the emergency call. When police arrived, they requested an ambulance to take the teen to the hospital for treatment.
Washington expressed fear that this type of crime could plague the city throughout the summer if action is not taken soon. “We are not even in the summertime yet,” Washington declared. Washington, a respected member of the community, has spoken out about the abundance of constructive options available to teenagers throughout the summer. This summer, Washington plans to organize youth basketball tournaments in collaboration with local churches. Washington runs a boxing academy for kids because he and his brother are Golden Glove winners.
