William James Middle school accident – On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, a child in Statesboro died after being struck by the school bus while trying to catch up with it. He was identified as 12 year old William James Middle School student. The officials did not release any further information about the child as the family are yet to give permission. The crash occurred on Maria Sorrell Road, as stated by Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch.

The school bus, according to Futch, was entering the Stillwater area with its blinkers on but without using its stop sign. The boy thought he had missed the bus and was running after it when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the opposite way. The boy was pronounced dead shortly after Futch arrived at East Georgia Medical Center. Administration and counseling support for students, staff, and educators has been mobilized, per the Bulloch County School System’s announcement.

According to a press statement from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the victims of the deadly vehicle collision at the interchange of I-475 and I-75 North have been identified. Reports indicate that a Toyota Land Cruiser was involved in a collision that occurred around 10:29 a.m.
The cruiser was heading north on I-75 and was about to make the transition to I-475. The driver then attempted to merge back onto I-75, but his or her rapid action caused the vehicle to roll multiple times before coming to a stop. Mark Bruno, 57, was recognized as the driver and he was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead there. DeAndre McGhee, 24, was identified as the passenger in the front seat who was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were 4 people in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They’re all locals of the city of Albany, Georgia. Two people in the back seat are doing fine at this time. The cause of the collision is still being investigated. A tragic vehicle crash occurred on Sunday afternoon at the interchange of I-475 and I-75 North.
It was reported by coroner Lonnie Miley that two people were involved in the accident. According to him, one individual passed away at the scene, and the other succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
