According to Officer John Lacy, a spokesman for the Overland Park Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. when Will Ensley of Shawnee was driving southbound on Metcalf Avenue near the 11400 block. Another vehicle collided with the rear of his car, resulting in a chain reaction that involved seven other vehicles. The subsequent collisions caused the roadway to be closed for several hours.
“As you can imagine, this is devastating news for the family and all of us here at Northwest,” Lisa Gruman, the school’s principal, wrote in a letter to families. “Will was an amazing presence in our community.
