John Stahl death – Scottish actor who played the role of Richard Karstark in two seasons of Games of Thrones has died at the age of 68. His death went public on March 5th, 2022. The cause of death is not said yet.
Stahl was born in 1953 in Scotland and grew up in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire. He was educated at Alloa Academy and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. From 1975 to 1976, Stahl worked as an assistant director in the Darlington Drama Centre. His screen debut was in 1976.

In seasons two and three of Game of Thrones, Stahl took over the role of Richard Karstark from actor Steven Blount. As the Houses of Karstark and Stark transitioned from allies to sworn rivals, Stahl shared several critical scenes with Richard Madden.
John Stahl found fame for his role as Tom ‘Inverdarroch’ Kerr in the television series High Road, in which he appeared as a series regular between 1982 and 2003. He also played the role of Rickard Karstark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, appearing in the second and third seasons.[2] His other roles include Inspector Reed in the 1995 television series Resort to Murder, and as Ewan in the 2011 Royal National Theatre production Frankenstein.[3]
Prior to his appearance in the show, Stahl was best known for playing Tom ‘Inverdarroch’ Kerr in the long-running Scottish soap opera Take the High Road. The actor appeared in the show from 1982 until the end of its run in 2003.

In a career lasting more than 30 years, Stahl studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, before appearing in numerous Scottish stage productions. He also worked at The Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Theatre in London. More recently, he appeared in the TV show Being Human.
