Who is David Copperfield

David Copperfield, born David Kotkin on September 16, 1956 in Metuchen, New Jersey, United States, is an American entertainer who is most known for his stage illusions from the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.

Copperfield is the first to say that he got into show business to get over his fear of the opposite sex; he began out as a ventriloquist at the age of ten. Switching to magic, he went by the name Davino before going by his more well-known Dickensian stage moniker (ironically, he stated that he could never finish Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield because it was “too dark” for his tastes). Copperfield was the youngest performer in the Society of American Magicians’ history.

David Copperfield Net Worth

David Copperfield boasts a net worth of $875 million, the world’s largest collection of magic memorabilia and the title of world’s highest-paid magician—now for the fourth consecutive year—yet the 63-year-old is hardly ready to disappear.

While still a teenager, he taught a magic course at New York University and acted in the Chicago-based Broadway show The Magic Man before turning 20. When he was hired to advertise the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) network’s 1977–78 season, he got national television prominence, and he was later hired by network competitor Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) to star in a long-running series of costly TV specials.

Copperfield got more ambitious in his staging of spectacular illusions as his fame expanded, many of them were produced to advertise his television appearances. He “flew” through the Grand Canyon on one occasion, appeared to stroll through the Great Wall of China on another, and made the Statue of Liberty vanish from view in his most renowned feat. His “standard” stage performance grew into a brilliant, often overpowering blend of music, dancing, and complicated story lines as a result of his incredible one-shot achievements.

After gradually reducing his television appearances in the 1990s, he made his Broadway debut in 1996 with Dreams and Nightmares, and three years later launched You!, an extensive touring performance. Since its inception in 1996, Copperfield’s long-running Las Vegas show has been one of the city’s most popular.

David Copperfield a real person

Copperfield, one of America’s highest-paid entertainers, spent a large portion of his income on acquiring some of the world’s most precious collections of magic literature and memorabilia, beginning with his 1991 purchase of the renowned John Mulholland Collection.

Copperfield’s International Museum and Library of Conjuring Arts in Las Vegas housed the artefacts; however, the site was not open to the general public. He also gave a significant portion of his earnings to Project Magic, a non-profit organization that uses sleight-of-hand magic as a therapeutic aid.
