A gunshot outside of Michigan Collegiate High School, according to the Warren Police Department, might have been much worse since three buses carrying children were parked just a few feet away. Six bullets were fired around 2:40 p.m., according to the police, during what they are calling a planned brawl that turned into a shooting involving a non-student at the school.
Police said that on Monday, several of the students who had been expelled earlier in the day returned, parked on the south side of the building, and then opened fire. Rushton claims that while authorities don’t know much about the gunman, they do know that he is not a student at the school. The shooting, which occurred in front of three student-filled buses just after school let out, did not result in any injuries.
Less than a minute had passed before Warren Police arrived at the school, and Rushton claimed that likely altered the outcome. Police are looking through security footage from the area’s businesses, buses, and schools. Calling Warren Police is requested if you have any information.
“Looking at the video, we believe this to be a planned after-school fight,” said Warren Police Captain Charles Rushton.
