Interstate-526 Shooting Investigations – Friday around noon, a deputy-involved shot stopped traffic on the Wando Bridge along I-526 near Daniel Island. A spokesperson for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said that officers were involved in a chase that ended with shots being fired. Officials said that just before 11:30 a.m., officers tried to stop a car. It was said that the car had been in multiple hit-and-runs. The car was followed until it stopped on I-526 heading west over the Wando River. This is where shots were fired. We still don’t know who fired the shots.

Mount Pleasant Police Department says that the Long Point Road exit of I-526 was closed. People are being sent down Long Point Road. Police asked drivers to find another way to get to their destinations because the bridge is likely to be closed for a few hours, maybe even until rush hour.
