On June 7th, 2022, a woman was shot and injured at a Walmart located in north Phoenix, close to where the former Metrocenter Mall once stood. According to the Phoenix police, an 18-year-old man has been identified as the perpetrator of this crime. According to a press release issued by the Phoenix Police Department on Wednesday, Diontay Evans was taken into custody in connection to the incident.
It was first stated by officials that a disagreement between two individuals led to the shooting, but it was later discovered that Evans was involved in the argument with two guys he knew. According to the reports from the Phoenix police department, Evans opened fire “multiple times back into the store” as the three guys were leaving the Walmart.
