Uptown Charlotte Shooting Today – On Sunday, April 16, 2023, a shooting in a park in uptown Charlotte left two persons critically injured. The accident took place close to Romare Bearden Park, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). Both individuals had injuries that were potentially fatal, according to the medic. There is no active threat, according to the police that arrived at the scene. It was reported that overnight there was gunfire in the uptown area of Charlotte and that it injured one person. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reports that the incident began at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, close to the crossroads where East 6th Street and North Caldwell Street meet. This location is in close proximity to the Spectrum Center, just in front of 321 Bar and Lounge, and directly across the street from the Brooklyn Lounge.
The parking area of the 321 Bar and Lounge, which is where the incident occurred, became the primary focus of police attention, and their investigation centered on two vehicles. In the parking area, there were several evidence markers scattered throughout. The crime scene tape had been removed by the time the clock struck six in the morning, and the intersection was fully operational once more.
According to EMS personnel, one patient was brought to the Atrium CMC Main for treatment of critical injuries. The location of incident took place in a densely populated region that is surrounded by a number of high-rise buildings on all sides of the parking lot. According to CMPD, the suspect was taken into custody on Friday afternoon following the death of a man that occurred earlier that morning in Uptown Charlotte.
Leon Mack, 71 years old, was determined to be the person who passed away. Terry Thompson, age 51, was arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder in addition to Robbery while using a Dangerous Weapon. According to the authorities, the suspect, identified as Thompson, was located just a short distance away from the location of the crime and was subsequently brought into the jail.
