Upper Darby Shooting, PA – According to a police report, two men were shot and killed in Upper Darby during a funeral procession after being ambushed, and police are now looking into a double homicide. According to the police, the shooting took place outside of a cemetery in broad daylight on Friday afternoon along Marshall and Old Marshall Roads.
Around 1 p.m., reports of a shooting led the Upper Darby Police Department to dispatch officers to the vicinity of Marshall Road and Powell Lane. The victims, 21 and 25, were in a funeral procession when another automobile drew up next to them and started shooting, according to Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt. According to authorities, the unidentified victims were both struck multiple times and died at the scene.
Although authorities did not say which Philadelphia homicide victim was the subject of the funeral, it is widely believed that one was. According to police, the shooting was intentional. Detectives are trying to identify the gunman or shooters by reviewing security footage.
According to a tweet by the Upper Darby Police Marshall Road from the Philadelphia border to Powell Lane is completely shut down as a result of the shooting incident. “Marshall Road from the Philadelphia border to Powell Lane is completely shut down due to a shooting incident on the highway.” The Police also wrote “The incident is under investigation, and there is no active threat to the public.” We will keep you posted.
Following the deadly shooting no arrests were reported.
