University High School is a public, four-year high school located in Orange City, Florida, United States. Established in 2010, it is the newest high school established in Volusia County since 1994, as well as its costliest. As of 2010, it was the largest high school in Volusia County by enrollment.

Update: At 10:24 a.m., the Highland Park Police Department was notified by an anonymous tip that a student might be armed. The anonymous tip came from within Township High School District 113. According to a statement released by district superintendent Bruce Law, the department requested a lockdown. Law claims that more kids came forward with similar allegations. According to the city of Highland Park’s website, no firearms were fired and five kids were taken into jail.

According to the city of Highland Park’s Facebook page, the lockdown was lifted at 12:28 p.m. There is “no credible reason to continue the lockdown,” the city’s website declared after law enforcement officers visited the spot and determined there was no longer any danger.

A walkout was organized by students advocating for an assault weapons prohibition shortly before the lockdown. In the summer of 2022, a mass shooting occurred at the town’s Fourth of July celebration. As a result of the lockdown at HPHS, the city hall, the schools in North Shore School Districts 112 and 113, the park district, and the public library all went into a soft lockdown. The restrictions on movement were eventually eased. The city has said that the Highland Park Police Department and District 113 will continue their joint investigation.
