A woman was killed in a motorcycle accident on Thursday evening, March 2, after she reportedly collided with a pole while riding east on Palo Alto’s San Antonio Road near the border with Mountain View. According to a news release by the Palo Alto Police Department, the victim was a woman in her twenties. She was identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office as Leslie Buenrostro, a 21-year-old East Palo Alto resident who succumbed to her injuries at a hospital early on Friday morning.
The police are investigating the cause of the collision and believe that no other vehicles were involved. Approximately 10:15 p.m., police received multiple calls about a motorcyclist lying in the roadway on San Antonio near Nita Avenue, according to a press release. The Palo Alto Fire Department dispatched police officers and paramedics to the scene immediately, and paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she died a few hours later.
According to the news release, the preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was riding a 2022 Kawasaki motorcycle when it left the roadway and struck a post. The Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team was dispatched to the scene, and the road was stopped for approximately four hours on Thursday night and Friday morning. According to the news release, it is presently uncertain if drugs or alcohol played a role, and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
