Tye Smith, a man from Mandurah, was missing since the weekend when his boat sank off the coast of Western Australia. A body was found in the search area on Tuesday afternoon, and police believe it to be that of a 27-year-old male who had not been seen since Saturday night. The next step is to write up a report for the medical examiner. After the two got into problems near the Dampier boat ramp in the Pilbara region at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, the friend swam and walked through the night to alert authorities.
On Sunday, the boat was found underwater off Enderby Island in the Dampier Archipelago, and the two have since been rescued. Before the boat’s recovery, WA Police divers examined the surrounding waters, however despite this and a larger-scale search, they were unable to locate the missing man. The two males, both in their twenties, were not wearing life vests, according to the police. Law enforcement agencies investigating the incident will disclose how Tye Smith died.
