Two Teenagers 17-year-old and 19-year-old killed in accident after becoming trapped in engulfed car; A tragic two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two young individuals on Sunday evening after a driver allegedly ran a red light, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At approximately 7 p.m., 19-year-old Braulio Tamez was driving a Chevrolet Camaro when he ran a red light at the intersection of E. Sam Houston Parkway and E. Little York, according to deputies. The Camaro collided with a Toyota Camry, which reportedly had the green light.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing the Camaro to veer off course, hit a pole, and burst into flames. Tamez and his passenger, 17-year-old Gilberto Guzman, were tragically trapped inside the burning vehicle. Despite the swift response of the Sheldon Fire Department, both Tamez and Guzman were found dead once the fire was extinguished.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, 33-year-old Daena Escalante, and her passenger, 31-year-old Blanca Velasco, fortunately escaped the crash unharmed. Both Escalante and Velasco remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies noted that Escalante showed no signs of intoxication.
