Troopers Update Tragic Motorcycle Crash In Newark: The Delaware State Police are investigating a tragic motorcycle crash that occurred in Newark on Sunday afternoon, killing one man. According to officials, on June 2, 2024, at around 4:11 p.m., a black 2010 Kawasaki motorbike was seen going at a high rate of speed in the left lane of E. Chestnut Hill Road westbound, nearing the intersection with Gender Road.
At the same time, a gray 2016 Nissan Rogue was turning left on a flashing red arrow from the left turn lane on E. Chestnut Hill Road westbound to Gender Road northbound. As the Nissan crossed the eastbound lanes of E. Chestnut Hill Road, the Kawasaki’s front wheel collided with the Nissan’s front passenger side. Following the collision, the motorcyclist was flung from the motorcycle, and the Nissan collided with a blue 2013 BMW 650i that was stopped at a red light on Gender Road northbound.
The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old Bear resident, was pronounced dead on the spot. His name is being kept secret until his family and relatives are informed. The Nissan driver, a 28-year-old guy, and the BMW driver, a 24-year-old man, both from Newark, were unharmed. The road was closed for around 5 hours while investigators examined the site and cleansed the area.
