A 29-year-old Higganum woman was driving her Toyota Corolla southbound on Route 9 before exit 10 when she struck a pedestrian in the right lane, according to the state police accident report. “The pedestrian was transported to Hartford Hospital,” it says. “The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at Hartford Hospital.” Police said the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad and the State Police Major Crime are assisting with the investigation.
