Egypt was announced dead yesterday, Friday, the 1st of September 2023. Travis had a funny and unique personality and was never afraid to show it and his friends loved that about him. So far, no official news on his cause of death has been released. Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
While announcing the passing of Travis Graves, mourners took to social media to extend their condolences to his family. One of the mourners wrote, “For the love of Travis Graves, one of the first men I’ve met who had no problem with crying in front of others, tears are just a regular part of life. New Song – plays in my head often. RIP.”
Who was Travis Graves?
Travis Graves, an American singer-songwriter hailing from Virginia, adopted the alias “Mt. Egypt.” In 2002, a mutual friend in the skateboarding scene, Jason Dill, introduced Graves to the Record Collection label. The subsequent year marked the debut release of Mt. Egypt’s album, “Battening the Hatches.”
Fast forward to 2006, and Mt. Egypt embarked on a tour in support of his second album, “Perspectives,” released in 2005. This tour featured performances alongside Band of Horses, and Mt. Egypt also had the opportunity to share stages with renowned acts like The Flaming Lips and Willie Nelson.
In 2009, Mt. Egypt’s album “III” saw a limited release of only 100 vinyl LPs, which were exclusively available at notable California record stores such as Amoeba Records and Aquarius Records, in addition to select other outlets.
