Tragic crash kills three Baird Teens on Sunday morning : According to KTAB/KRBC, BAIRD, Texas In Callahan County, there was a collision involving two vehicles that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to three others. At 2:10 a.m. on May 5, emergency workers were dispatched to the intersection of West 3rd Street (FM 18) and Peyton Road in Baird, Indiana, in response to an incident that had occurred there.
Initial investigations have shown that a Kia Spectra that was heading south on Peyton Street came to a stop at a stop sign at the same time as a Chevrolet pickup was entering the junction on West 3rd. Due to the fact that the Kia did not submit to the truck’s request for the right of way, an accident occurred at the crossing. There were three passengers who were thrown out of the Kia.
After being taken to a neighboring hospital, the driver of the Kia was treated for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening and then released. One of the passengers was taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently said to be in stable condition. At the site, paramedics provided treatment to the truck driver, who was then discharged from the hospital.
Layni Potter, who was 18 years old, Madi Buchanan, who was also 18 years old, and a male who was 16 years old were among the three passengers in a Kia from Baird who were pronounced dead at the site of the accident. At the time of the accident, both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, but none of the passengers were wearing theirs.
On suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, one driver was taken into custody. Sergeant Marc Couch noted that the information that is being collected could result in additional charges being brought against the suspect. The Texas Department of Public Safety is still conducting an investigation into the event.
