Tragic collision in County Monaghan claims life of man: A man in his 20s has died after a two-vehicle collision at Moneygorbet, Castleblayney, in County Monaghan. Irish police, or gardaí, report that the car and van incident occurred on Thursday at 06:15 local time. The driver of the car died there.
Due to non-life-threatening injuries, the passenger, a guy in his 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. The male driver of the van, who is in his 50s, was sent to the same hospital after the incident for non-life-threatening injuries. The road is currently closed, according to Gardaí, and forensic collision investigators are due to perform a technical evaluation of the area.
Anyone who saw the collision is asked to come forward by the Gardaí.
