Torrence Morgan Death – Following a house fire on S. Olson Ave. on Sunday night, a 55-year-old man and a dog were discovered dead. The victim’s wife contacted 911 to report the incident at 7:50 p.m. when she arrived home from work, according to the Grand Chute Fire Department. The woman and her husband lived in a one-story duplex that had flames on one side. The guy and dog were inside the house when they discovered it, despite their swift success in putting out the fire.
Fire victim identified
Torrence (Torre) Morgan, who lived at the S. Olson Avenue house with his family, has been identified as the man. Firefighters discovered and evacuated the family’s German Shepherd, who was eventually put down despite their best efforts. It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the fire, but the Grand Chute Fire Department believes it began in the kitchen and moved to the front of the house, where the living room was. There were smoke detectors, according to Grand Chute Fire Department Assistant Chief Kelly Hanink. yet we are unsure if they were effective. Although they were too damaged to determine, the first-in crew reported that nothing was blaring. Therefore, one of the primary messages we want to convey to people is that functioning smoke alarms do save lives and do warn individuals in time for them to try to flee their houses.
Investigation
Following a deadly fire, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation is coordinating the investigation with the Grand Chute fire and police agencies. We’re informed that there are no indications of suspicious activity or malicious intent behind the fire. The victim’s wife and two other adults, including the son of the couple’s and his roommate who resided on the opposite side of the duplex, had to find new lodging. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to them. Fires move quickly in today’s houses, the Grand Chute Fire Department warns, so be sure you have functional smoke alarms and rehearse your escape route. The precise reasons for the fire’s start are not known at this time; further investigation is required.
