Tommy Oliver Death – Golden Oldies Music confirmed on the 16th of January 2023 that Tommy Oliver died at the age of 71. Tommy Oliver passed away after a long illness on the 15th of January 2023. Tommy Hollamby popularly known as Tommy Oliver was born on the 20th of December 1950. He was described as legend in Country Music. Country is a music genre originating in the Southern and Southwestern United States.
Who was Tommy Oliver?
Tommy Oliver, real name Tommy Hollamby, was born on the farm that his family owned not far from the town of Rustenburg. When he was eight years old, he began taking singing classes, and when he was fourteen years old, his mother gave him a guitar. He has been playing music ever since. He at first referred to his band as Teen 4, but in the end, they chose to change their name to The Pipe Pipers.
After completing his education, he would go on to pursue a career in mining and work as an inspector in the Rustenburg area. In addition to that, he would establish a band in Rustenburg known as Sound Gravitation, which would go on to achieve notoriety at The Crazy Horse. After that, Tommy Hollamby would move on to singing by himself at the Bapsfontein Hotel and the Robinson Lake Resort, which are both located near Randburg.
It was there that people responded so favorably to his original song “I Wanna Live,” and as a result, he was able to persuade Corrie Myburgh to compose the song for him. As a direct consequence of this, he achieved his first chart success in South Africa. Tommy will appear singing songs in 2 films (1974’s ‘Die Afspraak’ and 1975’s ‘Wat Maak Oom Kallie Nou?’).
According to his podcast, After the break he sustained a few years earlier did not heal properly, he had to have a leg amputated in 1986. Tommy’s leg did not stop him from pursuing his music and he was one of the few that transformed Country Music.

Tommy Oliver’s diagnosis of prostate cancer was given to him by his doctor in 2010. He sadly passed away on the 16th of January 2023.
