Tommy Elliott Death – 63-year-old Tommy Elliott, a senior vice president at Old National Bank has been identified as one of the four victims killed in the Louisville shooting. According to reports, Tommy Elliott passed away from injuries sustained in the shooting. Connor Sturgeon, 23, a disgruntled employee, carried out a mass shooting at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, before being shot dead on the spot. Sturgeon killed four people before being shot dead on the scene.

Where did the shooting happen?

On Monday morning at approximately 8.30 a.m., a shooting took place inside the Old National Bank in downtown Louisville after police officers reacted to reports of a possible active shooter at the location. When police officers arrived at the area, they found the suspect already there and began trading shots with him.

  • Connor Sturgeon Death

On the scene, police officers shot and killed Sturgeon. The Louisville Metro Police Department has reported that four additional victims were killed and that nine further victims, including a police officer, were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Governor Andy Beshear choked up with emotion at a press conference, revealing that he has “a very close friend that didn’t make it today”. “This is awful,” he said.

Footage posted on social media revealed gunshots ringing out as officers stormed the bank building. Bank workers reportedly took shelter in the vault.

Who was Tommy Elliott?

Thomas K. “Tommy” Elliott was a longstanding fundraiser for the Democratic Party and a friend of both Steve Beshear, who served as Kentucky’s governor previously, and Andy Beshear, who serves in that role currently. At Old National Bank, he held the position of senior vice president.

Elliott was also an active member of the Democratic Party and had close relationships with Louisville and Kentucky Democratic leaders across multiple generations. Over the course of the previous two decades, he had contributed several tens of thousands of dollars to various political campaigns.

Louisville, Kentucky’s largest city, sits on the Ohio River along the Indiana border. Every May, its race course Churchill Downs hosts the Kentucky Derby, a renowned horse race whose long history is explored at the Kentucky Derby Museum.
