Tom Parker Death, Not Obituary – After being diagnosed with incurable brain cancer, Tom Parker of the band Wanted died at the age of 33. Last year, the star told the BBC that he was attempting to “concentrate on every day” and not let cancer take over his life.
Parker was born and reared in Bolton, England, and began playing the guitar at the age of 16. Prior to his brief stint as a geography student at Manchester Metropolitan University, he auditioned for “The X Factor,” but was eliminated in the first round. Prior to becoming The Wanted, Parker was a member of Take That II, a Take That tribute band that toured Northern England.
Tom was said to be a wonderful husband and father to Kelsey and Aurelia and Bodhi. His Death has left family, friends, colleagues and loves ones in a devastating state. He will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace.
The deceased’s death was announced in a Facebook post by Facebook user The Wanted, who said, “Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and the whole Wanted family are devastated by the tragic and premature loss of their bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away peacefully at lunchtime today surrounded by his family and his band mates. Tom was an amazing husband to Kelsey, and father to Aurelia and Bodhi. He was our brother, words can’t express the loss and sadness we feel. Always and forever in our hearts.”
World Music Awards said, “The Wanted, Ed Sheeran, Liam Payne, Connor Ball, BLUE and many more mourn Tom Parker…. The music world was in shock yesterday when News broke that The Wanted‘s #TomParker had passed away at just 33….it was his his loving wife, #KelseyHardwick, who first announced the sad news on her Instagram: “Our hearts are broken. Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.” Kelsey married Tom in 2018 and they had a daughter, Aurelia Rose, and a son, Bodhi.
The singer told his fans in October 2020 that he had an inoperable brain tumour. After nearly a 2 year battle, the singer died peacefully at lunchtime yesterday, surrounded by his family and the rest of the band. “We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children,” Kelsey wrote in her post, which featured a pic of her and Tom holding their kids. “Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you.
#TheWanted are one of the few British boybands that had huge hits in America too. The Wanted formed in 2009, with Tom, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes and Jay McGuiness.
They had two UK mega number one singles, “Glad You Came” and “All Time Low” and 8 other top 10 hits including their US beakthrough song “Chasing The Sun”, “Heart Vacancy” and “Lightning”.
Siva Kaneswaran wrote his own post on Instagram, saying: “Hey Tom, hope you’re having a blast up there.I am so grateful that I had a chance to witness your true courage. It has been a pleasure of my life Tommy Boy. Thank you for letting us see you light up the world. Talk to you soon and see you later. Love you brother x.”
Parker had posted a picture with his bandmates earlier this week, simply stating: “Dream team.” The Wanted had reunited for a Stand Up To Cancer Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London last September, organised by Tom which raised money for the National Brain Appeal. The group then released a greatest hits album in November. Just before the album’s release, Parker told fans his brain tumour was “stable” and “under control”. Parker actually appeared on stage sitting on a throne at some of the Wanted’s last shows earlier this month!
His death has brought more sadness to the music industry, especially after the passing of Foo Fighters much loved drummer #TaylorHawkins last Friday…
#TheWanted posted the following statement to their Instagram account: “Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and the whole Wanted family are devastated by the tragic and premature loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away peacefully at lunchtime today surrounded by his family and his band mates.”
