Tom Motamed Death – Tom Motamed, the former CNA Financial Corporation chief executive died at age 74. He passed away after battling with brain cancer with his family members around. Since January 2019, he has been a member of the board of directors of American International Group Inc. However, he recently came to the conclusion that it is in his best interest to step down from his position on the board of directors of the firm owing to personal concerns he has over his health which sadly, resulted in his death.
In 2009, Mr. Motamed was given the role of chairman and CEO of CNA, and he retired from his position with the insurer in 2016. After he retired from his position at CNA, he joined the board of directors of American International Group Inc. in 2019, however he resigned in January due to concerns about his health. In 1977, Mr. Motamed began his career in the insurance industry with Chubb Corporation as a claims trainee.
He worked in this field for a total of 45 years. Before departing to take the helm at CNA, he worked his way up through the ranks to become vice chairman and chief operational officer. According to a spokesman for CNA, the company will make a contribution to cancer research in Mr. Motamed’s honor.
