Thai Khin Death — The shooting that killed 17-year-old Thai Khin, a student at Cesar Chavez High School, was the result of an attempted robbery, according to the Stockton Police Department on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Khin and another 16-year-old student were playing basketball in the park on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at about 3 p.m., when the gunman and another suspect approached them, according to the police.
What happened to Thai Khin?
The 16-year-old was allegedly robbed and pistol-whipped by one of the accused, setting off a brawl. Khin was shot by the shooter during the struggle. After that, the suspects fled the area. A brief lockdown was implemented at Cesar Chavez High School while authorities looked into the incident off-campus. Just before 3:50 p.m., the lockdown ended and kids were let out. Nobody knows the gunman’s description. On Thursday, there were counselors and service animals at Cesar Chavez High School.
Eight months have passed since a student and another person were injured in a stabbing at the same park. Authorities are looking into this and are requesting that anyone with information contact Stockton Crime Stoppers.
