Death: Man killed by Salem officer, State police identify – Late Tuesday afternoon, state police confirmed a man was killed by police fire after a physical altercation with two Salem Police Department officers in a Center Street parking lot on Monday. Tayler Shannon Osborne, 28, of Salem, was named as the man who died in a news release by the Oregon State Police.
According to salemreporter.com, The declaration occurred roughly 16 hours after Salem police released a statement in which they described a “violent altercation” that led to an officer shooting a man who subsequently died of his injuries, but didn’t say how the man died or whether police fire was to blame for his injuries. There were no policemen involved in the incident, according to Salem police.
Cpl. Joshua Buker and officer Susan Slivkoff of the Salem Police Department were conducting a stolen car investigation in the 1700 block of Northeast Center Street near Seamster Cleaners and Johnny’s Bar & Grill when the shooting occurred, according to state police.
