Susan Frey Death — On the morning of Friday, April 7th, 2023, a person was discovered inside a burning automobile near Rowley, Massachusetts. The victim has since been identified. 79-year-old Susan Frey of Gloucester, who was found inside a flaming car after it crashed just before 1 a.m., has been provisionally identified as the victim, according to the announcement made by the District Attorney for Essex County Tucker.
When the 2003 Volkswagen Beetle went off the road and crashed into a private driveway located on Haverhill Street, Frey was the only person inside the vehicle. According to the authorities, the vehicle had nothing to do with the address. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered the vehicle completely engulfed in flames with a single deceased occupant still inside. The evidence that was discovered at the site and within Frey’s apartment leads D.A. Tucker to believe that there was no foul play involved in Frey’s death.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is the one that is obligated to verify the individual’s identity.

A local juvenile driver who was critically hurt in a two-car head-on incident that hospitalized five people faces charges. According to the police crash report, the crash occurred around 641 Washington St. in Annisquam before 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022. The driver, who was transported to a Boston hospital that night, was charged with DUI, using an electronic device while driving, negligent driving, a marked lanes violation, and being a junior operator with a passenger under 18. The automobile had three minors.
State law prohibits junior operators between 161 / 2 and 18 years old from carrying a passenger under 18 for the first six months after receiving a license unless the passenger is a family member or an experienced driver over 21. According to police Chief Ed Conley, citations for criminal offenses like driving while intoxicated become criminal complaints filed in court. The Gloucester Daily Times is not naming the crash victims, four local young men in a 2006 Ford Focus. The honor roll lists three Gloucester High athletes and one Danvers St. John’s Prep student.
New Hampshire-plated 2016 Dodge was the other vehicle. Conley had called it a van. Gloucester is the Dodge’s passenger’s home. The crash report states the Dodge was southbound on a small section of Washington Street near Goose Cove with two persons and a dog inside. Witnesses said the Ford containing the teens crossed the middle line and hit the Dodge head-on. Both vehicles were hospitalized. Both cars were towed. The crash shot shows both vehicles’ front ends collapsed.
The crash report and police claimed the Ford driver was taken to Tufts Medical Center in Boston with significant injuries. A Tufts Medical Center official said the teen was in good condition late Friday afternoon. The report claims two automobile occupants were taken to Addison Gilbert Hospital, while Conley said Thursday the Ford passengers were sent to Beverly Hospital. The report says two passengers had minor injuries and two had significant injuries. Conley did not update their conditions Friday. The crash report says Dodge passengers were sent to Beverly Hospital with probable minor injuries.
Susan Frey’s obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family at a later date.
