Walmart Supercenter Shooting Investigations – Over a dozen law enforcement agencies are responding to the Walmart Supercenter in Owosso, Michigan following reports of a suicidal subject currently barricaded inside. According to authorities, the Owosso Walmart located in the area of 1621 E M 21, Owosso, MI has been evacuated as officers respond to the scene for active investigations. According to reports, multiple officers were dispatched to Walmart Supercenter after receiving report of a subject armed with a gun.
According to information, the subject involved has been identified only as a male. According to reports, Shiawassee County Sheriff responded to the scene where they say the male subject is threatening to kill himself. At the time of this report, law enforcement agencies has not confirmed any shots fired. The Walmart store have been placed on an immediate lockdown as precautionary measure while officers attempt to convince the suicidal man to unarm himself. A perimeter has been set up near the Walmart at this time.
According to Shiawassee County Sheriff Doug Chapman, the suspect has ceased communication with police. Everyone is urged to avoid the area at this time. UPDATE: At 3:40 pm a white male in early to mid 40s was reportedly sitting in his blue color extended cab pick up truck and allegedly in possession of a hand gun threatening to unalive himself not the public.
Shiawassee County Sheriff Doug Chapman said that this started at noon when the Owosso Police Department were asked to do a welfare check on the non-identified male. Police said he drove away from his home prompting investigators to track his cellphone. Police arrived the Walmart Parking lot. The Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Department negotiators arrived the scene and started a conversation with the subject in attempts to stop him from commiting suicide. Sheriff Chapman said they will wait as long as it takes. Sheriff Chapman says they want a peaceful resolution.
According to reports, responding Sheriff confirmed that the man has been informed that the law enforcement agency have not intentions of arresting him if he comes out peacefully, they only want him to accompany them to the hospital for medical attention. FINAL UPDATE: At approximately 5:05pm, the suicidal subject peacefully surrendered to the police. The law enforcement agency are now clearing the parking lot. Police say this is not a threat to the public.
