Those people who had the honor of knowing him and working with him throughout the course of his life will never get over the fact that he is no longer here among them. In 1972, Stephen McLean received his bachelor’s degree in undergraduate studies from Princeton University. Mr. McLean is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, and he and his wife Caroline, UVA ’76 ’79, currently reside in Albemarle County with their three children.

Mr. Mclean has been successful in the farm, estate, and residential real estate markets across almost the whole state of Virginia over the 43 years that he has been involved in the real estate industry. over this time, he has been engaged in the real estate business. Since 1973, he has also been one of the top producers of residential, large farm, and estate property sales in the Commonwealth. Among the notable and historic properties that he has sold during this time are Carter’s Grove (circa 1750-1755), Upper Brandon (circa 1825), Enniscorthy (circa 1850), and North Wales Farm (circa 1718), Esmont (1826), and Brandon (1765).

Mr. McLean has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Association of Realtors. During his time on the Board, he has held the positions of Treasurer, Vice President, and most recently, President of the Board in 1989. At the state level, Mr. McLean was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to serve a term on the Virginia Real Estate Board that lasted for a total of four years. After serving for 10 years on the Board of Directors of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Chamber of Commerce, he previously held the position of Chairman of the Board for the organization.
