Steve Braun, Former Indiana House of Representatives member died of cancer

Steve Braun Death – Zionsville Indiana resident Steven “Steve” James Braun died at the age of 63 on the 18th of November 2022. Steve Braun passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a well-fought battle with cancer. Steve Braun was born in Jasper, Indiana on the 13th of November in 1959 to parents Amos and Laverne (Beckman) Braun. After graduating from Jasper High School in 1978, Steve continued his education at Harvard University in Cambridge, where he received a degree in Economics.

After graduating from college, Steve wed Jennifer (Schneider) Braun, the girl he had a crush on in middle school, and the two started a prosperous life together working as technology consultants. Braun Consulting was established by him in 1990, and he took the business public in 1999 before eventually selling it to Fair Isaac Group in 2004. During this period, Steve purchased acreage in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, and converted it into a gorgeous space that could be used for farming, cattle ranching, and recreation. He additionally began land acquisition around the greater Indianapolis area, and went on to form Braun Property Development with his sons and son-in-law.

Steve was also dedicated about improving his town; he served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2012 to 2014 and was appointed Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development in 2014. Steve met Jennifer in 1973 during a middle school dance in Jasper, Indiana. The rest is dance history. Steve and Jennifer had Alexandra, Callyn, Jonathon, Adam, and Maren. They celebrated 40 years in June (2022). In his later years, Steve played with his grandchildren, rode his motorcycle, became the Cinch Grandmaster, hunted mushrooms, grew and studied Purple Martin colonies, and watched the Pacers.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Amos and Laverne (Beckman) Braun. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Schneider) Braun; his five children, Alexandra (Scott) Noel, Callyn (Bill) Riggs, Jonathon (Anna Dykema) Braun, Adam (Claire) Braun, and Maren (John) Jester; his ten grandchildren; his brother, Michael (Maureen) Braun; and his sister Janet (Greg) Ostendorf.
