According to the California Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle accident on California Highway 76 near Pala stopped all westbound lanes Monday afternoon. An ambulance and a tow truck were on their way to the scene, indicating that at least one person had been injured and that the vehicle had sustained considerable damage.
The crash was reported, shortly after 3 p.m. Officers say it happened around Agua Tibia Creek and Wilderness Gardens Preserve, where a black SUV collided with the slope and then returned to the road, blocking the westbound traffic.
Officers are still investigating the cause, as sufficient information about the accident has not been released.
