Showdown in regular season finale, Thwart Men's Soccer versus Holy Family

In the final game of the regular season, played on Wednesday, the men’s soccer team from Thomas Jefferson University (with a record of 7-6-4 and 6-2-4 in the CACC) was upset by the Holy Family Tigers (11-6-1 and 9-2-1 in the CACC), 2-1. Towards the end of the second stanza, Holy Family scored two goals in a space of just less than two minutes.

Details of the first quarter of the game

According to jeffersonrams the first ten minutes of play were fully controlled by the Rams, who notched four shots and managed to put one in the back of the net. The game was ultimately won by the Rams. Matty Harmon dribbled his way into the corner on the left side of the field, and then he crossed the ball to the far post on the right side of the field.

In spite of Noah Stover getting his head on the ball, the goaltender for Hawai’i Pacific University was able to make the save. In spite of this, the goalie headed it right back towards Stover, and on his second attempt to head it, he was successful, giving his team a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. Stover’s header put his team in the lead. Holy Family played at a significantly higher level throughout the remainder of the first half, which resulted in them finishing with an edge of 8-6 in shots taken for the quarter.

Despite this, Jefferson continued to maintain their lead as the game entered the second half. The Tigers remained in the lead throughout the time in terms of shots taken, and they were ultimately able to score in the 75th minute when an attacker got in behind the opposition’s defense and finished service to tie the game at 1-1.

Holy Family found themselves back in the attacking half of the field after less than two minutes had passed, and they centered the ball from the left side of the field. When the ball was headed in at the right post off of a cross with 13 minutes and 54 seconds remaining in the game, the Tigers seized a 2-1 lead in the contest. The Rams had two attempts to fire during the remaining time, but both of them were prevented by the goalkeeper.
