During a shootout on Saturday, police from KwaZulu-Natal murdered five criminals who were hiding out in a flat in Durban. An alleged drug kingpin, his wife, and their daughter were gunned down in a drive-by shooting not too long ago, and the suspects have been connected to the incident. Col. Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the police department, stated that the gunfight took place during a drug raid. When police officers arrived at the hideout, the suspects opened fire on the officers. “When they started shooting, we had no choice except to retaliate,” he added.
During the operation, according to Netshiunda, police were able to seize a number of weaponry, including rifles, along with money and drugs. He also stated that a law enforcement officer was hurt during the exchange of gunfire that took place. “To our great good fortune, the member was wearing his bulletproof vest. You can see that we were dealing with crooks who will do everything to get what they desire, and it was clear that this was the case here.
Trish Parshotam, the owner of Dragon security, which is providing guarding services at the flats where the suspects’ hideout was located, stated that they did not observe any signals of suspicious behavior from the accused. “They led perfectly ordinary lives, and we were unable to uncover any indications of wrongdoing at their apartment.” “We were absolutely stunned to see what cops uncovered in their apartment,” she said. “We were just surprised.”
