Shooting at Ohio movie theater kills man. A suspect is arrested: Following a shooting at a movie theater in northeastern Ohio, a man was discovered dead, and shortly after, someone else who was being held as a suspect was taken into custody, according to the authorities.
When Massillion police arrived at the scene of a reported shooting at Regal Cinemas just before 11 p.m. on Friday, they discovered a male victim close to the main lobby. Police said that the victim was Daron Davis, a 27-year-old from neighboring Canton.
A person “considered a suspect at this time” was taken into custody outside the police department in the Stark County city shortly after 11:30 p.m., around 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Akron, according to the police.
It was unclear, according to the Canton Repository, if Davis and the suspect had been seated in front of a movie at the theater. The Stark County coroner’s office reports that the body was brought early on Saturday to the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
Authorities stated that their investigation was still ongoing while they looked at CCTV footage from the movie theater. On its website, Regal Massillon said that all of Saturday’s showtimes had been canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances” and that the venue “is currently closed.”
