Sheena Sisavath passed away unexpectedly on March 3rd, 2022, at the age of 26 due to a medical issue. Sheena lives in Kitchener with her true love, Ben.
Her father, Ning Boubane, and mother, Somphone Sisavath, welcomed her into the world on November 20th, 1995 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Sheena attended E.I. McCulley, Carlton Public School, and Laura Secord Secondary School while growing up in St. Catharines. Sheena graduated from McMaster University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Brock University with a master’s degree in sociology (the first to do so in her Laotian community).
Sheena is survived by her parents, sister Soumetta Sisavath, brother Arby Houmphanh, nephew SJ, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends, among others.
Sheena had a great spirit that radiated across every space she entered. She was a standout track and field athlete who competed at the OFSAA level. She was a gifted artist who was able to showcase her skills through her company, The Pour Project.
Sheena’s visitation will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St, St. Catharines 905-937-4444 on Friday, March 11th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, March 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Laotian service), 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (family tribute for Sheena), 11 a.m. to Everyone is welcome to come to any or all of the events.
