Shayna Vincent Death – Children’s Book Co-Author Shayna Vincent has passed away. Shayna Vincent of Dallas, Texas was announced dead on the 12th of September 2023. She died after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Shayna was 38 at the time of her passing. Everyone who knew Shayna Vincent was broken by her loss — her husband and daughters, brothers, sister-in-law, all her family and friends. Thoughts and prayers are with them.
How did Shayna Vincent die?
Shayna battled cancer for as long as she was able. She was able to ring the bell, which was the optimistic period the book centered on, before the cancer returned and metastasized, bringing her to Stage 4. Shayna endured excruciating procedure after painful procedure. She desired so desperately to be with her family. Shayna narrowly missed the Jewish New Year. She was always thrilled to receive updates and conduct interviews.
Even in the last week of her life, before her youngest’s 5th birthday, which fell on Sept. 9 when she was in the hospital — the very hospital where Avivah had been born — she insisted on celebrating her child’s birthday as she always celebrated her children’s birthdays — with acts of charity. She was nearing the end of her life and feeling terrible. Nevertheless, she persisted in personally purchasing treats and, with her daughters, delivering baskets of sweets to chemo nurses.
Who was Shayna Vincent?
Shayna Vincent was born on February 14, 1985. She was completely selfless. Shayna wanted youngsters like her daughters to know what to expect, how they might feel, and how they might help throughout a parent’s cancer journey, so she worked with a friend to write her first and only picture book, Mama’s Year with Cancer.
Shayna, too, enjoyed Mila’s exploits; she kept a scrapbook of Mila’s evaluations and always made sure to dress “appropriately” (a “cat” outfit for Cats, a skirt with chimney sweeps for Mary Poppins, etc.) when attending the theater or reading the book Mila reviewed. The book’s October release and accompanying festivities made her quite delighted. She was prepared with a poster and her handmade bookplates, bookmarks, and posters.
