Sentence for West Geauga student who took a pistol to school: Judge Carolyn Paschke of the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas is set to sentence the student who took a gun to West Geauga High School the previous year on Wednesday morning.
Brandon Morrissette entered a guilty plea in March to the counts of attempted murder and unlawful gun possession in a school zone. It was mandated that Morrissette stay behind bars until his sentence.
On April 3, 2023, the adolescent was taken into custody at the school with a weapon and three filled magazines in his backpack. A knife was also fastened to his jeans. Morrissette acknowledged creating a plot to injure high school children, according to Chester Township Police Chief Craig Young, and he intended to use that pistol.
In July 2023, the state presented an award to the student who had informed authorities about the gun that day, thus averting a shooting.
