Scott Kirkhart Car Accident – Scott Kirkhart of Kirkhart Music was involved in a motor vehicle accident in the early hours Tuesday, July 25, 2023. According to reports, Scott had been on his way to Carroll, Iowa to play at Ragbrai, when the fatal crash happened. He was severely injured from the crash and was transported to the hospital.
According to the information on Scott Kirkhart Music Facebook page, “Scott has suffered a broken vertebrae in his lower back (T12)&(L1) and is going to require surgery as immediate as possible to prevent further serious complications. Scott will be transported to Mercy-One in Des Moines for the neurology department to assess his injuries and provide the needed care.”
As at 11:15 on Tuesday, it was updated that upon arrival and evaluation the Neuro staff at Mercy have made the decision to hold off of Scott’s surgery until morning due to the severity of the fracture in T12.

On Saturday just before noon, deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department went to a crash that had occurred. Alexander Fister, 31, was driving northbound on Velvet Avenue at the time a report was filed with the police department at 11:37 a.m. The report stated that Fister was nearing the intersection of 130th Street. Dennis Hardy, 69, was heading in the opposite direction on 130th Street and was approaching the intersection at the same time.
Both vehicles were involved in a collision because Fister did not properly yield before approaching the junction. While Hardy’s truck was forced into the ditch to the northwest, Fister’s vehicle was allowed to remain on the roadway. Both Fister and Hardy were taken to Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City to receive medical attention for their wounds after they were injured.
