San Bernardino County freeway accident – A collision that occurred in the wrong direction in Fontana on Saturday morning, January 14, 2023 resulted in the deaths of three persons and the injuries of three more. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 6:34 a.m. on the 210 Freeway, which is located immediately east of Citrus Avenue. There were two cars involved in the collision which includes a Ford sedan and a Lexus SUV.
San Bernardino County wrong-way crash
According to the CHP, the vehicle was going in the incorrect direction, traveling eastbound on the lanes designated for westbound traffic. According to the investigators, the collision between the sedan and the SUV occurred as the vehicle was passing the Citrus Avenue exit. Inside the SUV were five people who were traveling together. The scene reveal that both of the vehicles were entirely destroyed, with pieces of metal and other debris scattered all over the highway.
Both of the people who were driving the sedan and the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. All five people found inside the SUV were recognized as being from the city of Highland: a man in his forties, a woman in her forties, a daughter of 16 years old, a girl of 5 years old, and a boy of 3 years old.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the teenager, who was 16 years old, was taken to a nearby hospital where she passed away. The other three passengers also sustained significant injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment after the accident. At this point, the driver of the car has not been located or recognized. The reason for the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time.

On Wednesday afternoon in Merced County, there was a collision that involved a head-on collision that left one person dead and another injured. The collision took place at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon near the intersection of Highway 165 and Westside Boulevard. The California Highway Patrol has reported that a motorist lost control of their vehicle, drove into the other lane of traffic, and then collided head-on with another vehicle. According to the investigators, the crash claimed the life of the driver of the second vehicle.
The health of the other driver was unknown when they arrived at the local hospital where they were taken. According to the officers who responded, it was pouring at the time of the collision; nevertheless, the reason of the collision is still being investigated. There is no evidence to suggest that drinking or drugs played a role in the crash.
