Samuel Waters Death – An adult male from Massachusetts is being investigated and charged in connection with the shooting death of a young man that occurred in a residence in Mansfield. According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, William O’Brien, age 22 of Manchester-by-the-Sea, was held on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, in connection with the death of Samuel P. Waters, age 23 of Mansfield.
Suspect arrested following deadly shooting
O’Brien was detained in connection with the killing of Samuel P. Waters. O’Brien is being charged with carrying an unlawful handgun as well as carrying an illegal firearm that is loaded, according to a statement released by the authorities early on Sunday morning. The formal proceedings for his arraignment on those counts will take place in Attleboro District Court on Monday morning.
A call placed to the Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Emergency Communications Center at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Saturday detailed a shooting that took place at a residence located close to the downtown area. The number of the call was 42 West Church Street. According to the office of the district attorney, Waters had already passed away prior to the arrival of the first responders at the scene. According to various sources, the residence where the incident took place is rented by four males, all of them are in their mid-20s at the time.
Investigation ongoing
According to those sources, none of the young guys who rent out space in that house have ever caused them any trouble. Mansfield police, officers of the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, homicide detectives with the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and prosecutors with the district attorney’s office are all working together to investigate the incident as a possible homicide.
