The Swarthmore Fire Department crews and the Wallingford authorities were called to the scene of a reported motor vehicle accident in the greater Philadelphia region around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. Officials claim that as a result of the event, they were forced to close the northbound lanes of Interstate 476 at Baltimore Pike for a significant amount of time. Both vehicles had significant damage and required to be evacuated from the scene, and as a result, one of the vehicles ran off the road as a direct result of the collision.
According to the first available reports, two of the injured individuals required medical attention and were taken to a hospital for treatment. It was alleged that one individual was unable to free themselves from one of the automobiles until rescue workers used a spreader and cutting tools to free them. Because the investigations into the collision are still underway, it is not yet clear whether any of the drivers involved will be charged in connection with the incident or issued any citations.
