According to WGN-TV, a security guard for the television station was shot and killed after leaving work and stopping for gas in the South Shore neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
Salena Claybourne was driving in the 6700 block of South Jeffery Boulevard at 3 p.m. when a black sedan drew up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago police.
Claybourne, 35, was hit in the shoulder and face and transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she died, according to authorities. According to the station, Claybourne, a mother of two girls, worked for Allied Universal Security and was stationed at WGN-TV Studios.
“WGN is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own. Our sincerest condolences go out to her family and friends,” the station said.
A police spokeswoman stated Tuesday afternoon that at least two people of interest were being questioned. There have been no charges filed.
