Ruthie J. Massie, a 21-year-old driver, and a mother was murdered and five girls were injured in a rollover crash outside of Davenport. Report says that the four 11-year-old girls and one 10-year-old, were in the truck when Massie lost control of the vehicle as it drifted off the road. Unfortunately, Massie was not wearing a seatbelt when she was thrown from the vehicle and died as a result of her injuries.
The girls were injured, but their condition is stable. The accident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022. It’s unclear whether the collision was caused by snow or ice, but there was no drinking or drugs involved.
Information reaching us says that the vehicle was heading eastbound on SR 2 when it lost control and spun north off the road, into a field, and then rolled until it came to a stop upright facing westbound.
Officers are still doing all they can to get full details on the accident.
