Ronnie Lawrence Death – Ronnie Lawrence, South African Equestrian has passed away unexpectedly. He was pronounced dead on Thursday, the 27th of April 2023. The show jumper died leaving his family, friends and loved shocked and devastated learning of his tragic death. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and had the privilege of meeting him.
SA Showjumping announced his death in a recent social media publication – “Today we hear of the very sad new of the passing of one of South Africa’s greatest equestrian legends – Ronnie Lawrence who over 4 decades has kept crowds entertained at events winning an incredible 13 S A Titles. Our condolences go out to Penny, Andre and all family and friends at this times. Ronnie will always be part of the SASJ Storybooks with all his accolades over the years”
Who was Ronnie Lawrence?
Ronnie Lawrence was known as one of South Africa’s greatest equestrian legends. By many, he was the regarded as the most experienced horsemen in SA today. He was a part of the South African Warmblood Horse Society inspection Team for assessing stallion licenses last year along with Arnaud Evian of GFE France. In that same year, he was also one of the judges for the SAWHS Free Jumping show.
He was the owner of Highborn Equestrian Academy at Highborn equestrian Academy. He went to Peterhouse Boys’ School. He was born and raised in Midrand, Gauteng where he lived until the time of his death. He had a range of activities that he relished including Animal Training, Athletics, Horse Racing, Animal Rescue. He will be dearly missed by many.
