Roger Ekman Cause Of Death, Obituary Not Yet Available – Invermere Fire Rescue officials and firefighters are heartbroken to learn of the loss of retired fire chief Roger Ekman. Roger retired in June 2018 after 40 years with Invermere Fire Rescue, including 36 years as Fire Chief.
According to e-know.ca, Roger was unquestionably an important member of our community and fire department. Roger is credited with many significant achievements and honors during his time as fire chief, including the establishment and implementation of our road rescue program, as well as the renovation of the former high school into a new firehall to create space to improve services for Invermere and the valley.
Roger had a talent for pulling off major projects on a shoestring budget. Roger’s greatest achievement and gift, in our opinion, is the numerous firefighters he has trained throughout the years. Those who had the privilege of working with Roger will carry a piece of him with them for the rest of their lives, and his legacy will go on through our work, our commitment to the community, and our dedication to the fire and rescue service.
Chief, you can relax. You’ve given us excellent training.
