Rodney D. Clayton Death – According to jail records, Serena Marie Sanchez, 26, was booked at 11:45 p.m. into the Shawnee County Prison and was being detained without bond as of Tuesday morning on charges of intentional second-degree murder. No formal charges had been brought. According to Topeka police, a Topeka woman was detained on Monday in connection with a homicide that was discovered earlier that day in the 200 block of S.W. Harrison and claimed the life of 57-year-old Rodney D. Clayton. Police were called to the area early on Monday and discovered a dead man there, according to Topeka police Capt. Jerry Monasmith.

Sanchez was then arrested as a result of the investigation into that person’s death, who was later identified as Clayton, he said. A Texas felon shot and killed a 57-year-old woman while she was traveling to meet her son for lunch on Thursday afternoon in what the police described as a “random” act of violence. Jon Rogers, a concerned person initially called the police to say that Redman, a man, was operating a red sport utility vehicle at an intersection on the Berlin G. Myers Parkway. In addition to yelling, Rogers claimed that the man was brandishing a gun. Authorities claim that Redman fatally shot Harrison, who was seated in a different SUV on eastbound East Carolina Avenue close to the Sawmill Village retail area, while the cops were attending to that incident. According to Rogers, the police caught Redman close to the incident.
